A carrying case for UTStarcom CDM8940

You are looking at a 3rd Generation,  Evolution Data Optimized (EVDO) camera phone, introduced by Verizon on their high speed broadband data multiservice system.  We admit that's a mouthful of tech-talk, and it's posted on this page by The Pouch, Inc. an independent carrying case manufacturer, because it is the new wave in handheld communications and it is here now.

Cellular wireless service which began over 25 years ago, has now evolved into a camera-phone with camcorder features, voice-activated dialing, but most importantly, enhanced digital service for super audio, super clear streaming video, super-speedy text messaging and digital music. This "Personal Communicator" also has a Mini Secure Digital expansion slot for even more memory and applications.

The CDM8940 wireless phone is offered by UTStarcom, formerly Audiovox - and it requires 3rd Generation, Broadband Access Service, the reason for the Verizon logo on the CDM8940.  Verizon can now offer over 300 video clips - now termed by some "mobisode" TV shows - daily.  If that is not astounding enough,  there's much more.  The CDM8940 surfs the web, does e-mail and via the integrated software, turns the 1.3 megapixel camera into a camcorder, with adjustable lens and flash. The CDM8940 user can send or receive still images or superior streaming video immediately or save it for later viewing. The instrument has (here's another new term), digital Vcast EVDO capability, making it superior to many other types of personal communicators - and bound to be followed by competitors.  Either they upgrade to Gen 3 or go the way of analog cellular service.

The UTStarcom CDM8940 Personal Communicator is a flip phone: 3.56 by 1.82 by .92 inches when closed.  The Pouch, Inc. is much interested in this wireless phone-camera for it has a 2-inch color display, viewable even when the 8940 is closed.

The Pouch Inc. makes a protective carrying case, fitted to the CDM8940 camera-phone's exact dimensions, using Neoprene,* a tough, cushiony, waterproof material developed by DuPont.

We've made over a million carrying case using Neoprene in our Tucson, Arizona factory.  See "What's Neoprene?" below.

The Pouch has a long padded flap with a hard plastic shield embedded in it that covers the entire front of the Personal Communicator.  Four layers of material cover the delicate display on the UTStarcom CDM8940. There's a small pocket secured with Velcro on the back of the Pouch case made to hold program cards.  A rugged, spear-in clasp locks The Pouch securely onto a belt or purse strap.

The factory-direct price is $29.95 in basic black or for just $2.00 more, we custom tailor a Pouch carrying case for your CDM8940 in one of our handsome, eye-catching colors. Little to pay for so much protection.  And...no one does color like the The Pouch, Inc.

Nothing herein intends to imply endorsement by UTStarCom, Inc. of the protective carrying case made in the CDM8940 camera-phone's dimensions by
