Dell, Inc. kicks off the Inspiron 1420 with a panoply of choices, including 5 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processors, ranging in clock-speed from 1.5, 1.66, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2-Gigahertz. You've a choice of Windows® Vista™ Home Basic or Home Premium platforms. The 1420 Inspiron can provide up to 4-GB of shared, Dual Channel, DDR2 SDRAM. It can come with the Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X310 or NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS graphics chip with its own 128MB of dedicated graphic memory. the Inspiron 1420 notebook can hold up to 160-GB of data on either a 7200 or 5400 RPM SATA hard drive, and optical storage comes either as a DVD/CD-read/write combo drive or one with a dual layer DVD burner, utilizing Blueray Disks.™ Memory on the Inspiron 1420 can be augmented by a 5-in-1 card reader.
The options for wireless connectivity on the Dell Inspiron 1420 notebook are profound. All Wifi® formats are covered with Dell Wireless mini cards, but we would opt for the Intel® PRO Wireless 802.11a/b/g mini card and either of the wide-area, high speed (cellular) connections available, both integrated by Dell in the Inspiron 1420: Wireless 5520, that operates on a system with HSDPA or the 5720 wireless connection for EVDO mobile broadband service. This choice may be dictated by the user's present wireless cell phone service.
