Quick Guide to Dell Inspiron and Latitude Notebooks

Inspiron 2500 - Choice of two processors: Pentium® III, capable of 900MHz or Celeron® III running at 800MHz. Ultra ATA hard-drive with 5, 10 or 20 GB capacity. Internal 56k modem, choice of 12.1 or 15-inch display. Network and Ethernet options and MGI VideoWave® III card and editing software.
Inspiron 2600 -Choice of Pentium® III running 1.0 or 1.13 GHZ or Celeron® at 1.06 gigs. SDRAM = 128MB standard, upgrade to 512MB. 20, 30, or 40-GB hard drives. Choose either 14.1 or 15 - inch XGA active-matrix displays. Bay accepts CD, DVD, CD-RW optical devices or a combo DVD/CD, CD-RW drive can be installed at time of purchase.
Inspiron 2650-Pentium® 4 inside, 128MB of SDRAM, upgrade to 512MB. Two SoDIMM sockets and a slot for Type I or Type II cards and same optical drive choice as 2600.
Inspiron 4100 - Successor to the hugely popular 4000 Inspiron. Processor choice: 866MHZ to 1.2GHz-M. Up to 1,024MB of SDRAM and up to 30GB hard-drives. Big choice of media devices for second spindle: CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW and CD-RW/DVD combo drive. Or you can put a Zip® 250 or a second battery in that slot.
Inspiron 8100 - Intel® Pentium® III inside, capable of 1.2-GHz, 128MB of RAM and a 10-gig HD. 15" Ultra XGA display, enhanced by a 16-MB graphics card. Internal CD-ROM or optional CD-RW/DVD combo drive.
Inspiron 8200 - Pentium® 4 inside, capable of 2gigs, 128MB SDRAM, upgradeable to 1024MB. Optional drive choices for CD and DVD. Dell also offers an optional, modular 250MB Iomega Zip® drive.
Dell Latitude Series Notebooks
Dell offers many more powerful options with their Latitude Series including wireless LAN with TrueMobile® operation.
Latitude X200 - Choice of Intel® Celeron® or Pentium® III running up to 2.06GHz. Up to 512 MB of SDRAM available. 12.1" XGA TFT color display. Type I or II socket. Integrated 10/100 Ethernet. True Mobile® Wireless accessories. Option: Dell projector. External modular bay.
Latitude C400 - Also has an external modular bay, 56K modem, 10/100 Ethernet and is wireless ready for 1150 80211b with integrated dual antennas. 12.1" XGA TFT active matrix display
Latitude C510 - Wireless TransMobile® option available. The Mini PCI 56kpbs and 10/100 Ethernet LAN combo is integrated. 14.1 XGA active-matrix display.
Latitude C610 - The modular bay is integrated as are 56k modem and 10/100 Ethernet. TransMobile® wireless system is optional. 14.1" XGA or SXGA display.
Latitude C640 - Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4, capable of 2.06GHz, 128 to 1024MB of memory. Hard drive choices up to 40GB. Great Feature: ATI Mobility Radeon® graphics. Two memory slots and modular bay for choice of CD-ROM, CD/RW, DVD ROM, Zip® 250 or second lithium battery.
Latitude C840 - Also has Pentium® 4 Processor-M inside. New Dell UltraSharp® display is one of 3 display choices. 1024BM of memory available and up to 60GB hard drive choices. There's much more on the link to Dell below.Good Luck making a choice!
