This is the second in a series of Micro PCs from Sony. The illustrations show how the 4.8-inch touch screen slides up to reveal the miniaturized QWERTY keyboard on the VAIO UX280P. The antenna swivels 90 degrees, permitting the user to hold it like a handheld computer. The VAIO UX280P is the same size as its predecessor, the UX180P, 5.91 by 3.74 by 1.50-inches.

Despite its size, the UX280P is a fully-functioning PC, with an Intel® Core™ U1400 1.20-GHz processor, 1-GB or RAM and a 40-GB hard drive - all contributing to considerably more power, memory and storage capacity than was provided by the VAIO UX180P.

The Sony VAIO UX280P has an integrated WLAN for hotspot WiFI connectivity, and it also has WWAN, providingWireless Wide-Area Network service through a Cingular Wireless EDGE network, where available - as well as Bluetooth® connectivity. The VAIO UX280P is loaded with the Windows® XP Professional operating system with Service Pack 2 - meaning scores of applications, e-mail and the Internet.

REAL TIME VIDEO CONFERENCING: An integrated camera, built in speakers and mike in the UX280P provide for Voice and Video over Internet Protocol with those using similarly equipped computers.

GPS is available as an option for the Sony VAIO VGN-UX280P Micro PC.
